First Job:This one
First Road Car:1989 White Toyota Starlet
First race car:Sabre Formula First (Formula Vee)
Hero:Greg Murphy
Favourite circuit and why:Bathurst, it's such a unique place and nothing else gets close to it. The chase is my favourite part
Favourite Race and why:Has to be Hamilton, NZ. Racing in front of a home crowd makes you dig in that little bit more.
Most memorable racing moment:Probably my first championship race in Formula Ford. It was wet (surprise) at Pukekohe and I spun out from Pole Position at turn one, went to the back of the pack and went on a massive charge back through the field which was completed with a last lap pass for the lead!
Greatest personal influence:The feeling of winning, there is nothing like it
I prepare for a race by:I like to take some time out and just listen to some music and just zone out for a while
Best advice ever given:You only get a sore neck looking back
Best/Worst part of the job:The best is probably that i'm getting to race against the best drivers in Australasia and i'm doing what i've always dreamed about doing. Worst part is probably the offseason!
Significance of helmet design:It has a lot of NZ in it! It has a New Zealand flag on both sides at the front, also has silver ferns that only show up in sunlight in the chrome.
You'll never see me without:Mobile Phone
Favourite food:Nacho's
Favourite movie:Hot Rod
Music on my iPod:King's of Leon, The Killers and Rise Against

Shane van Gisbergen on the season ahead:"This year I am aiming for the top 10in the championship, alongwith this I want to win a couple of races and improve my qualifying. It's going to be an exciting year with the new FORD FG Falcon and we have a new Engineer on the SP Tools Number9."
Shane's Career Highlights
ALEX DAVISON
Alex comes from a true motor racing family. His father Richard and late grandfather Lex Davison have seen much success in open wheel categories. Alex's motor racing career began when he served his driver apprenticeship racing karts where he won the Australian Karting Championship in 1995. 2009 will see Alex complete against his younger brother, Will as he takes to the track in the new #4 IRWIN Racing Falcon.
SHANE VAN GISBERGEN
Shane spent his formative years racing ATVs on natural terrain motocross tracks and a Quarter Midget on speedway ovals before a brief but typically successful dalliance with karts. Since then he has been on a fast track to major Australasian success. In 2009, driving the SBR #9 SP Tools Racing Falcon, Shane has already shown signs that have marked him as a future star of V8 Supercars.
